Art Therapy and Creative Healing in The Hague
Professional Art Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Healing, and Growth in the Hague and online

Art Therapy is a powerful process that can facilitate deep insight, healing, and transformation. In art therapy you are encouraged to create art while you are supported by a professional Art Therapist.
During Art Therapy sessions you work with art to learn to connect with your inner-world in a unique and meaningful way. Art Therapy is well documented as helpful for PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and many other mental health concerns.
Cammi is a professional Art Therapist with a Masters in Counselling Psychology-Art Therapy. She is registered with BCATA and is a full member of EFAT. She has been working with Art Therapy clients since 2018 and provides supervisions to student therapists and professionals.
We offer Art Therapy in-person at our office in The Hague, NL. We also offer Art Therapy sessions online for our Canadian clients and for clients from other countries. Unfortunately, we are unable to see individuals who live in the United states or the UK.
We do our best to offer art groups and workshops throughout the year.
You do not need to be an artist or have any art experience to go to an art therapy session. Everyone is welcome.

How Does Art Therapy Promote Healing?
- Art invites us into a different kind of thinking—imaginative, curious, nonlinear. It opens doors to creative solutions we didn’t know were there.
- There are things we feel that words just can’t hold. Art gives those feelings a voice, without needing to say a single word.
- When we make art, we make the invisible visible. Suddenly, what’s swirling inside has shape, texture, and color. We get to see our inner world.
- Art asks you to play. And play is medicine. Art Therapy can soften the edges, lower stress, and remind you that you are allowed to feel joy-just because.
- Our imagination is a wild and powerful place. When we make art, we’re nurturing it—watering the garden, letting it grow.
- Every piece of art is a mirror. What we create reflects parts of ourselves that are honest, raw, and real. No one else could make what you make.
- When we share our art with someone we trust, like a therapist, we open the door to deeper connection.
How Does Art Therapy Work?
- Art therapy is a space where creativity and emotion meet. It’s not about making “good” art it’s about tapping into your lived experience of creating. During session we encourage you to play around with different art materials and to let go of the need to have a particular end result.
- Through color, texture, shape, and line, we begin to explore what’s really going on inside. Your feelings, memories, behaviors all show up on the page and we invite them in to gently explore together. Sometimes I will give you a directive to help you access your feelings, other times we might discuss your thoughts while coloring. Every session is unique.
- Each person’s process is different. There’s no one way to do it. Some Art Therapy sessions are quiet and reflective. Other sessions are filled with conversation and movement. All of it is welcome and encouraged. In-person sessions are held in a big office with a variety of materials which allows you to spread out and take up all the space you need!
What else do I need to know about Art Therapy?
- Often, in session we’ll talk about what came up while creating, such as what surprised you, what felt good or hard, and what your art might be trying to tell you. If we are working online together I might give you art therapy homework, and we will look at the art together during our session.
- The art made during art therapy becomes a kind of mirror. It holds pieces of your story, and through it, we begin to understand your inner world with more compassion and clarity. You also have a visual representative of your experience in the art you have created, which can be a powerful healing tool.
- The art doesn’t just stay on the page. The art you make informs how you see yourself, how you move through your life, and what healing might look like for you. This is one way that art made in art therapy sessions differs from art made alone. A professional art therapist is a person who has studied the psychological aspects of art making. They know how art can open up old wounds and they take precautions to make sure you are safe and feel supported. This allows you to engage with your art in a way that is healing and encourages inner connection and growth.
